Need to know what to do next?

A new software, Magitti, has been created for a Japanese company that will turn a GPS enabled mobile phone into an activities recommendation source. So a person would be able to get up to date information on the happenings around where he or she is located. From movie times to different types of restaurants, it will give you information based on what you are interested in. As it is used more, the more it is tailored to a person's personal interests. One of the ways it does this is that it gathers information from the phone to refine its recommendations - “Magitti pulls GPS data from [a user’s] phone, as well as text messages and information about events saved in the phone’s calendar, and uploads it to a server, along with the user’s search terms." Yesterday I posted a blog about giving away a bit of your privacy to use a service, again the question comes up here. If anything has become more abundantly clear from the advancement of technology is that privacy is becoming less and less private. While it seems like a useful tool, how receptive people will be to opening up their privacy that much more to use a service is the question. The Japanese company is set to release the software next year but there is no word on it becoming available in the U.S.
