IMing

The online survey of 410 teens and 836 adults was conducted from Oct. 25-Nov. 5 by Knowledge Networks to see what people really use IM for. I myself do not use IM but I do text through my cell phone once in a while. Its totally understandable why so many people use IM to either set up dates, or to break up. One, like the article suggests, to avoid embarrassment of maybe rejection or something. And second, WHY THE HECK NOT. Did we really need to conduct this survey to find out what the majority population of IMers really IM about? i guess so.

I utilize instant messaging and text messaging. Whenever I get a chick’s telephone number I always ask if she has AOL instant messenger (AIM). I use AIM or texting as a form of flirting. I find that AIM and texting is perfect for building relationships and friendships because it is highly convient. If I have a random thought but I do not have time for a phone call or a personal visit I shoot off a text or an AIM. I am not a fan of e-mail as a form of instant communication. I have all of my close friends on AIM as well. If my friend does not have or use AIM I encourage them to do so. I am always studying or doing something on the computer and I always have my AIM open. I do not like texting because I feel texting is cumbersome. Therefore I try and gradually coax my friends and family to use AIM because it is easier for me. AIM and texting allows me to network at a fast and efficient pace.
