This topic is related to the fire but can also be used for private and public businesses.
When I got evacuated, I left the county and could not get any news coverage on my area.
Going to http://cad.chp.ca.gov provided me with minute to minute update of emergency dispatch calls in my area. I knew about the location of the fire a few hours before broadcast over the air, and how close it was to my house. Luckily not close enough. On a business level, many companies such as, taxi and tow truck companies can use this technology to provide the quickest and the best service for thier customers.

That is really convenient and useful. We didn't have any news coverage about the fires where I live despite being surrounded by large fires. There was an article in my local paper the other day about it. Apparently where I live falls between SD/LA major news stations so they do not want to cover our area because we are not in their demographics apparently although every news channel had SD/LA news on our cable networks.
