Beer and Diapers, the domination of Wally World

I found data mining very interesting. I am in BUS 304 Data Analysis and I have been fortunate enough to have learned SPSS which is a program that allows you to create statistics which in turn allows you to predict situations and make management actions. I think data mining is very similar to using SPSS. I like the fact that data mining creates a cube and allows for another dimension to analyze data.

This article describes how Wal-Mart used data mining to boost the sales of diapers and beer simultaneously. Regardless if you are a fan of Wal-Mart or not, you have to admit that this is why Wal-Mart is dominating. They are not a poorly managed company by any means.
Want to hear a joke? Maybe Wal-Mart could use the extra profits from this business decision to pay their workers more. HA!
