I thought this was an interesting article, because I work with this vary technology already at work...and have for years. As a Facility Manager, I'm responsible for building operations...yea, even things as simple as lighting and HVAC schedules. I have a java enabled program that lists every single one of the heat pumps (air conditioning units) and I can click on the unit via a graphic, adjust the thermostat, turn it off, turn it on, and put it on a schedule. Same thing with the lighting...from home, I can dial in thru my company VPN, turn the lights on and off and really screw with people if I wanted. I also have a DVR based security camera setup. I just open up a simple program and can look at the campus from multiple cameras and angles.

If you work in corporate america, remember this - make friends with your Human Resources people and your Facilities people, and never piss them off!! It's waaaay to easy for us to reset the thermostat in your work area to 50 degrees if you mess with us!
