Name Dicrimination?!?

http://www.thedigeratilife.com/blog/index.php/2007/07/02/name-discrimination-how-it-affects-job-and-career-choices-life-status-overall-success/

The other day I was discussing with my fiance on what to name our future kids (just one of those random conversations we would have every so often) and we came up with a list of names, enough for two girls and two boys. Well, while in class having to give this whole blogging thing a try, I came across an article about name discrimination! I am like....um....serious?! This article was so intriguing to me that I had to share this with you all. I totally understand that our names can give others a better sense of understanding of who we are, where we came from, and things such of that nature, but for it to possibly affect my chances of getting a job is ridiculous! This makes me wonder if all those jobs I applied for and did not hear from them had anything to do with my name (my name is NOT very common). I mean, certain names indicate a characteristic or a trait or even status. Your name can be categorized as sounding "white" or sounding "black". Wow! So fellow blogger, think twice when naming your little ones cause you would not people to think your son is a jerk just because you named him "Ace" according to the article.

That's interesting. I like my name because it is easy to remember and it brings me certain convenience in some occation because people tend to remember me after just one meeting. However, some suggested that I should get a more serious name as a college professor.

I also read an article talking about Chinese people picking up English names themselves after coming here. The article says statistically, most of Chinese men named "Edward" are bald. Isn't it funny?
